Copyright and the Signature

A signature is a “distinctive pattern or characteristic by which someone or something can be identified.” For art practitioners, it is an original, cohesive and consistent mark that is carried across all our original works, prints and related merchandise. More importantly, it is about asserting our copyright on the artwork.

My collaborator for this series of works, came today to sign on the shared canvas. Drying time is 3 months and Ying has to sign before varnish is applied. Yoke Ying

Ying signed on BLESSINGS and JOY. Canvases need at least 3 months drying time. We plan to deliver the completed artworks by end June, latest.
